The Wizard’s Wand

Do you believe in dragons, witches, and other fantastical creatures? If you do, start reading ‘The Kingdom of Fantasy’!! Before you know it, hours and hours has gone by as you read the whole series!! The main character is Geronimo Stilton, he is the publisher of the Rodent’s Gazette and a bestselling author, but he becomes Sir Geronimo of Stilton, a brave and fearless knight (even though he originally was a very scaredy-mouse). There are also Queen Blossom, the ruler of The Kingdom of Fantasy, and Scribblehopper, Geronimo’s official guide of the kingdom of fantasy.

In the 10th book of the series, he has to face his fears and save the kingdom from being ruined by the witches. In the process, he will have to collect 3 magical and very precious things. Will he succeed? And most importantly, can he survive? If you want to know more, then read it, because I’m sure you’ll enjoy it!!

This is a great book about courage, friendship, and compassion. The illustrations are out of this world and it really goes along well with the narration. It was one of the best books I’ve ever read. Reading this book made me wonder if I could save the world by facing my fears or have a wonderful dream like Geronimo. Although it was slightly shorter than I wanted, I would recommend this book for elementary children and fantasy world lovers. So go start reading it!

Tom Gates Super Good Skills (Almost…)

Reviewed by: Rasyid Vinusena Sumin

Do you like caramel wafers? Do you have a band? If you do then change your name to Tom Gates! Just kidding! But really you should read Tom gates! The series centers on these characters: Tom Gates (of course), Marcus: a show off and Mr. know it all, Amy Porter: the smart and pretty one, Derek: Tom’s best friend and plays the piano in the band, Norman: the band drummer, Delia: Tom’s annoying and grumpy sister, Mom: Like most moms, and Dad: Like most dads but also a caramel wafer lover. Tom Gates is my favorite character because he is a handsome, cool, awesome lad who has cool super ninja skills. He also has a band named Dog Zombies that was inspired from Dude3 (the best band in the whole wide world!). There are 3 people who are in the band Tom, Derek, and Norman.

In the “Super Good Skills,” Tom is going to have a holiday but he has a lot of homework. When his family gets to the Villa they get a dirty cabin, AND meets Amy porter when he is singing “Let it go.” What could be worse!? What happens next? Find out yourself by reading the book! It’s a story about growing up and friendship. Liz Pichon is one of my favorite authors because her books are funny and fun to read and I will continue recommending her books to my friends. Buy this book instantly, especially for every person that likes caramel wafers!!!!!!

The 78-Storey Treehouse

Reviewed by: Kyrannika Legithaputri Windarwo

All kids love treehouses, right? Well imagine how awesome a 13-storey treehouse is! Andy and Terry started their treehouse from a 13-storey treehouse, and every new book adds on another 13-stories (chapters). The latest book in this series is The 78-Storey Treehouse, and the story is the best yet.

The intro starts like an any other Treehouse series, where Andy and Terry will introduce themselves and the rooms they have in their treehouse. I love how the conflict came really fast, right after the intro, and truly fascinated by how the author can make the conflict go on for so long in the story. In the 78-Storey Treehouse, a director comes to the treehouse to make a movie about Terry and Andy’s life. Unfortunately, Andy was not allowed to be in the movie and he was replaced by a ribbon. Everything that Andy does that day goes wrong and he eventually got accused because he has been making a lot of mess that day by Mr.Bigshot, aka the director. He told Mr.Bigshot that there were cows spying the treehouse, is that true? Did Mr.Bigshot believe him? You have to find out for yourself.  The story is crazy exciting!

My favourite quote in the book is: “You say its about you, but all you’re really doing is going on and on about Terry. I don’t mean to be rude, but it isn’t very nice… and it’s a little bit boring” when Andy was writing bad stuff about Terry in his stories. When you don’t like someone, writing bad things about them won’t help solve your problems, you just collect hatred instead.

This book is an example of not giving up on your dreams, although things don’t go your way. Reading this made me wonder how I can make my own story and make my imagination go as wild as a tiger. I also love the wonderful illustrations that are just so detailed, meaningful, and funny at the same time! I recommend this book to people who have crazy personalities and imaginations.

Matilda

Every parent cares about his or her kid, right?  I thought so until I read Matilda, Roald Dahl’s classic about a little girl with horrible parents that only loved her annoying brother. They treated her like she was nothing even though she was actually a genius. Her parents wouldn’t let her have books, so at 4 years old she walked to the library alone. After a while, she started taking revenge every time she felt like she was treated wrongly by her parents. When she starts school and she met the nicest teacher, Miss Honey and the worst headmistress Miss Trunchbull. Miss Honey noticed Matilda could read adult books and could do the math for 12-year-old kids but they have to face people who don’t want them to succeed or be happy. For one week, every class will be taught by Miss Trunchbull and that’s when things get exciting. Read the book to find out what will happen to Matilda and Miss Honey.

My favourite part was towards the end where Matilda uses her brainpower and pretends to become someone else (no spoilers!) because it’s satisfying to have revenge on mean people. I think the book has many lessons on courage and friendship and teaches us to never underestimate kids. It also made me wonder how could parents be so ignorant their kid? It also made me feel so lucky to have awesome parents. By the way, I have watched the movie, and I think the book was better. It is one of the favourite books and I recommend the book for YOU whoever is reading this, have fun reading!

Captain Underpants And The Tyrannical Retaliation of The Turbo Toilet 2000 (11th)

Reviewed by: Adhi Putrasatriyo

It all started when two boys, George Beard and Harold Hutchins, tried to save their friendship from being broken. But their friendship saving day turns into the day where they followed their principal in his underpants. Although they got yelled at, at least they saved his life.

Now if you have read the 2nd book, the turbo toilet 2000 was brought to Uranus by the Robo-plunger. In the book about Wedgie Woman, she made 2 robo George and Harold and one kicked a kick ball all the way to Uranus. But that ended up decapitating the robo-plunger and oozed out Photo-Atomic Trans-Somgobulating Yectofantriplutoniczanziptomistic juice (a substance that made the already dead Turbo Toilet 2000 alive again). The turbo toilet 2000 then seeks revenge to the creators of the robo-plunger. So, in the tyrannical retaliation of the turbo toilet 2000, George and Harold tries to save their principal, Mr. Krupp from being destroyed by the Turbo Toilet 2000. If you were still following, you should definitely read the book!

Through the all silliness I could see the message is ‘just let it be’. This book made me wonder how Mr. Krupp, AKA Captain Underpants, never felt embarrassed or weird going around in his underpants. The funny illustrations and the flip-o-rama in the book are so c-o-o-l. I recommend this to people from the age of 7-90+ (if they are still alive). Ok, you may be asking if the review is going to give the ending. But surprise surprise, you must read the rest. Now go and read this book and I’m sure you will agree that this book is absolutely hilarious.
